Why We Love Avocados

It’s National Avocado Day! In celebration we’re talking why we love avocados so much.

Did you know an avocado is a fruit? I know, it’s a weird fruit but it’s the truth. We think it’s fair to say that avocados are nearly everyone’s favourite addition to a meal. Heck sometimes they’re even the entire meal (we’re looking at you Avocado Toast). Today in honor of their day, we’re talking why we love this magical fruit so much.

Avocados are full of healthy fats.

Fat is an important part of a healthy diet, but that doesn’t mean you can eat all the potato chips and they’d be considered healthy (although, we wish this were the case). There are both healthy and not-so-healthy fats and well lucky for us avocados are full of healthy fats! The average avocado has 15 grams of healthy fats – heck yea that’s good. We love making a chickpea tuna with it in place of vegan mayo (not healthy fats).

Superfood? More like super versatile.

Avocados are one of the most versatile fruit available. They can be grilled, fried, sauteed, baked or eaten as is. Avocados can be used in dips, sauces, dressings, salads, salsas, and so much more. Heck they can even be turned into fries! Yes, avocados are wonderful and versatile and honestly the perfect fruit. If you think your meal needs something extra, it’s probably avocado.

We’re all artists now.

Have you ever seen someone create a beautiful dish of avocado toast or perhaps an avocado rose? Yeah, we’re not those people but damn do we appreciate them. Avocados are so verstaile that you can even make beautiful edible art. Dev has been know to make a pretty avocado rose toast from time to time and it instantly brightens up a dish.

Avocado and chocolate are the perfect pair.

Speaking of versatility did you know avocados can be used in many different chocolate dishes? You read that right, avocados make the perfect base for chocolate smoothies, chocolate puddings and even baked goods! Because of the fat content adding avocado still feels decadent, but it’s actually super healthy.

Damn, Delicious

Don’t think this one needs much explaining, but avocados are damn delicious. They are all that is good in this world and bring a smile to our faces each and every time. They’re creamy, delicious and make the perfect addition to any meal.
